About Landwehrmann Engineering, PLLC

The Final Beam: Reflecting on 45 Years

After more than 45 years as a structural engineer, retirement feels less like an ending and more like the completion of a long, carefully designed project. I’ve had the privilege of watching ideas on paper rise into bridges, buildings, and foundations that will stand long after I’ve stepped away from the drafting table. Over the decades, I’ve seen the profession evolve—from hand calculations and slide rules to advanced modeling software—but the core responsibility never changed: protect the public, respect the materials, and solve problems with integrity. The greatest reward has always been knowing that families live, work, and gather safely inside structures I helped design. As I retire, I carry pride in the work, gratitude for the colleagues and mentors who shaped my career, and confidence in the next generation of engineers who will continue building a stronger, safer world.
